Isn't this what life is all about......

Relationships! Relationships! Relationships! It touched my heart to see how five ACCESSORIES brought two people from different backgrounds together for the summer. Ivory is a mother of 5 children living on the S. Side of Chicago and Emily is a college student living on the NW side of Chicago. This picture was taken at the end of the Renegade Craft Fair Festival in wicker park this past weekend where we sold our eco friendly designer handbags and other green handmade gifts. As they turned to leave, they put their arms around each other. I had to make them turn back for a photo.

How and where do Coconut Trees Grow? Coconut trees are very hard to establish in dry climates, and cannot grow there without frequent irrigation; in drought conditions, the new leaves do not open well, and older leaves may become desiccated; fruit also tends to be shed. Coconut palms are grown in more than 80 countries of the world, with a total production of 61 million tonnes per year. In fact, behind the Philippines, Indonesia is the second largest producer of coconut trees with over 15 million tonnes per year.

Want a coconut clutch? Try our new wristlet from our Bali Collection made from coconut trees. Only $15 it is the perfect eco friendly gift idea from our eco friendly designer handbags.

Recycled bags made in Cambodia

Conserving the natural resources by recycling products to produce commerce is a priority to our partners in Cambodia. The bags from the five ACCESSORIES' Cambodia line are made from recycled plastic mosquito netting that locals originally used to protect livestock, safety netting and brick layers used as a sand sieve. The material is washed and cleaned to be made into the eco friendly designer handbags available at http://www.fiveaccessories.com/

Eco Friendly Rice Bags

Did you know that in 2006 6.2 million tons of rice were harvested in Cambodia? that 70% of the population of Cambodia lives in rural areas and that 50% of the population works in rice fields and marketing?

While Cambodia can command higher prices for its rice than Thailand and Vietnam because it is a higher quality rice, the average rice farmer still only makes about $135 per year. Farmers use very primitive harvesting techniques. The solution to this is not easy due to culture and education issues. Modern technology may fix the problem - however, not in the desired sustainable ways.

In a socially conscious effort, five ACCESSORIES is working with local Cambodian artisans to provide a way for them to improve the quality of education for their children. This gives them a brighter future hope as we recycle the rice bags the farmers have used to carry the rice to market into eco friendly designer handbags http://www.fiveaccessories.com
