What is Fair Trade?

Perhaps you have heard the term. Fair Trade is a business model centered around providing a living wage for producers, safe and empowering working conditions, and environmentally friendly practices. Fair Trade companies help individuals in Third World Countries or Developing Areas to lift themselves out of poverty, invest in their communities, protect the environment, and develop skills necessary to compete in a global environment. If you would like to learn more about Fair Trade please visit the Fair Trade Federation or Chicago Fair Trade.

Green Music Fest

Green Music Fest in Chicago was last weekend. There were lots of eco friendly events and great music such as The Wailers. We had fun promoting our hand-made, fair trade bamboo and coconut purses and our eco-friendly jewelry, picture frames, and much more! Many people were interested in hearing about how fair trade works and why it is important. Come by next Friday to Uncommon Ground from 4:00 p.m. to 8p.m.
